Overview
This policy explains what data Sous AI collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and how we protect it. We aim to collect the minimum needed to make the app useful and we never sell your personal data. Sous AI is intended for users aged 12 and over.
Data we collect
Account information you provide (such as email, display name, profile photo from a sign-in provider, and optional details like age, gender and country of residence). The ingredients, menus, recipes and preferences you create inside the app. Purchase history and subscription status. Basic device and usage data needed to deliver and improve the service: device type and operating system version, app version, language, anonymized analytics events, crash reports, and an advertising identifier (Apple IDFA on iOS, Google Advertising ID on Android) used to serve and measure ads as described in the Advertising section below.
How we use your data
We use your data to operate the app (storing your pantry, menus and recipes), to generate AI results based on your inputs, to keep your account secure, to process subscription purchases, to fix bugs and improve the product, to send service messages, to show and measure ads in the free tier, and — only with your consent — product updates.
AI processing
When you generate recipes or other AI content, the inputs you provide (such as pantry items, themes, diet preferences and the prompt context the menu wizard assembles) are sent to AI providers — currently Anthropic and OpenAI — so they can produce results. The output is returned to your account and stored as part of your recipe library. We do not use your personal account data to train AI models, we do not share AI inputs or outputs with other users, and we do not sell any data to anyone.
Advertising and tracking
Sous AI shows ads in the free tier through Google AdMob (in-feed native cards, full-screen interstitials between certain actions, and rewarded ads that grant occasional bonus features). To deliver and measure these ads, AdMob receives device-level signals including a device advertising identifier (Apple IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android), coarse location at the IP-address level, and basic device characteristics. On iOS, the first time the app needs to track you across other apps and websites for advertising, you will see Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; you can decline, and you can change this choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android, you can reset or limit ad personalization in your device settings. Users with an active paid subscription that includes the ad-free perk do not see ads.
Sign-in providers
If you choose Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple, that provider returns to us your email address, a stable user identifier and (in some cases) your name and profile photo, which we use only to create or sign you into your Sous AI account. We do not receive your contacts, password or any other data from the provider. The provider may log the fact that you authenticated with us, subject to its own privacy policy.
Sub-processors
We rely on a small set of trusted sub-processors who receive only the data they need to perform their service. These currently include: Google Firebase (authentication, push notifications, crash reporting, deep links and analytics), Google Cloud and our hosting infrastructure (backend and database), Anthropic and OpenAI (AI recipe generation), Google AdMob (advertising), and Apple App Store and Google Play (in-app purchase processing and store messaging). Each provider operates under its own terms and a data-processing agreement consistent with applicable privacy law.
International data transfers
Several of our sub-processors (notably Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and Apple) are headquartered in the United States and operate global infrastructure. By using Sous AI you understand that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside Türkiye and the European Economic Area, including the United States. Where required by law (e.g. KVKK Article 9 in Türkiye, GDPR Chapter V in the EU), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or your explicit consent to make such transfers.
Storage, security and retention
Data is transmitted over TLS and stored on reputable cloud infrastructure with access controls. We retain your account data while your account is active. When you delete your account (see the next section), we delete your personal data within thirty (30) days from our production systems and within ninety (90) days from rolling backup snapshots. After that we may retain a minimum amount of data for legal, anti-fraud or accounting purposes, in anonymized or aggregated form.
Account deletion
You can delete your Sous AI account at any time from within the app under Settings → Account → Delete account, or by emailing us at the address below. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, pantry, menus, generated recipes and subscription history from our active systems within 30 days, and from backup snapshots within 90 days. Active paid subscriptions are not refunded automatically by deleting your account; cancel your subscription in the App Store or Google Play to stop future charges before deleting.
Notifications
If you opt in, we may send push or email notifications related to your account, new features or important updates. You can disable notifications from your device settings or unsubscribe from emails at any time.
Children's privacy
Sous AI is not directed to children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us so we can remove it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. under the EU GDPR or Türkiye's KVKK), you have rights to access, correct, delete, export or restrict use of your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will notify you in the app or by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
